Stress, Brain and Behavior Recent Developments on Pharmacology, Modelling and Translational Issues
A one-day Satellite Meeting to the European Brain and Behavior Society (EBBS) Conference, to be held in Trieste, Italy, September 15, 2007.
During the last years, significant advances in the area of stress and psychopathology have been the result of close interactions and collaboration among neuroscientists, pharmacologists, and molecular and cell biologists, all working at the interface of brain and behavior. It is more evident now than any time before, that such a multidisciplinary approach is necessary to achieve the ultimate goal of developing effective therapeutic strategies to slow down and/or prevent the progression of stress-related neuropsychiatric diseases.
The goal of this meeting is to shed new light on the mechanisms underlying the effects of stress on brain and behavior with a focus upon translational issues, novel behavioral and computational tools, and potential therapeutic approaches. In addition of having presentations by scientific leaders in the field, one important goal of the meeting is to promote discussions. The meeting is structured among three main topics related to the impact of stress on brain and behavior: (i) Translational issues (ii) Behavior and modeling (iii) Pharmacology each of them followed by a discussion promoted by a leading scientist in the field.
